PV132T slower than expected with BackupExec 9.1 on Windows Adv. Server 2000
I've got a PowerVault 132T tape library, and I'm using Backup Exec 9.1 for Windows Servers to run my backups.
At the moment, backups from the local machine are running at about 105 MB/min, and from a remote machine over a GigE connection they're running about 110 MB/min.
Given that the remote machine in question is a file server with a little over 2 TB of data, this is a problem...
I took a look at KB article #TT1088687, which would seem to suggest that this isn't a unique issue. However, following the directions on that page didn't seem to help. Or maybe I just grabbed the wrong device drivers? I'm not sure...
Anyone have a suggestion?

After following the directions in the above mentioned KB article, the drive still refuses to write faster than exactly 121MB/min. It will not write faster than this when backing up from a local drive, from a remote machine over a shared 10/100 ethernet connection, or from a remote machine with a dedicated 10/100/1000 ethernet connection (using a GigE crossover, and properly configured to use that interface).
What's special about 121MB/min? Any thoughts on what could be limiting the speed? According to the spec sheet it should be able to write at least 16MB/sec (or 960 MB/min) uncompressed, and at least 35MB/sec (or 2.1 GB/min) compressed.
I'm confused...genius welcomed.

In short: zap the firmware and the driver for the 39160 SCSI card with the current ones from Dell. That seems to do the trick.

I was enouraged by your solution, then spent an aggravating 10 minutes searching the Dell site for current drivers, but no real luck. I found a multitude of other files and drivers, but no indication of which were the newest, and I was unable to locate any kind of 'home page' area for my 3960D, which seems to be really called a 39160. Please help me locate a single, reliable source of driver files!!
Thanks a ton,
Ross
