PowerVault ML3/ML3E Library compatibility with an internal LTO6 drive?

Hello - I have an old PowerVault 124T (LTO4 tapes) that will no longer read the LTO4 tapes due to a malfunctioning drive.  I do have a Dell PowerVault ML3/ML3E LTO8.  Is there any way that I would be able to get the files off of the LTO4 tapes and onto the new ML3 LTO8 system?  What would be the best way to do this:

If I purchase an LTO6 internal drive, can that be installed in the ML3 LTO8?  If so, exactly what drive would I need to purchase to connect to the ML3 LTO8 system?

If that is not an option, is there a specific external drive I can purchase to read the LTO4 tapes and pull information off of it to my local Windows computer?  ie - without using the ML3 LTO8 to do so?

Any help is greatly appreciated!

ML3 doesnt support LTO6, but there are companies that offer tape to tape transfer.

Or buy an external LTO4 and restore the data to disk

What do you use to backup the data?

I'm confused.... because according to Dell's user guide for the ML3, it does support LTO6?
