PowerVault TL4000 ISCSI Bridge Factory Reset

My organization was recently given a PowerVault TL4000 to use for backups from CommVault. We've been able to get the device configured so that we are able to access the Libraries and Firmware. However we are unable to access the SCSI Bridge. We've spoken to the old organization we acquired the hardware from and they don't have the configurations in order to restore and rebuild the device. We were wondering if there is a way to manually reset the ISCSI Bridge, so that we can access the device and configure it to work with our network.

Hello EddyJaffa,

What you will need to do first is to login to your iSCSI bridge. Once you are logged in then you can go to the Load/Save Configuration & select Restore Factory Defaults.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello biko5,

If you connect a laptop to the left side network port on your iSCSI bridge, and use the default IP address of 10.10.10.10 can you get to the login page of your iSCSI bridge? If you do, then you should get a login to access the bridge.  If you don’t remember the password to access the bridge then we will need to know what the challenge code is so that we can provide you with the response key. To get the challenge code you will need to type DELLSUPPORT as the password and it will provide you with the challenge key.  You will need to send me a private message with the code so that I can respond with the response key.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello,

I have just tried the default address 10.10.10.10 and it doesn't work.

This is what happened : I changed the addresses on the bridge and i restarted it.

After restarting, neither the new adress nor the old adress respond.

I still have my password.

What to do in this situation

Hello biko5,

Have you tried to connect to the second port on your bridge to see if you can access it, or do you just have a single network port on your bridge? Are you getting any link lights on your bridge when the cable is plugged in?

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I have tried the two ports,

I have link lights when I plug the cable and the switch shows the ports up.

Hello biko5,

Just want to make sure that you can’t access either port on the iSCSI bridge when you are direct connected using a laptop, server, or when connected to a switch?  Also, when you changed the IP address did you also change the subnet mask & gateway?  In most cases you should be able to connect again when the link lights are blinking if all was changed.  There is not a way to reset a iSCSI bridge back to factory without getting into the software of the bridge.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

I finaly succeed to connect the bridge ;

I have a new problem ; I updated both library and drives to the latest firmware F10, A28 for the library and LT05 H971 for the drives.

After this the system is too slow, backups runs at less than 100kb/s

I tried a downgrade but there is no change.

Please can you suggest to me the best combination of firmware for library and drives ?

I have a windows 2012 R2 server with veeam BR9

Hello biko5,

What drivers are you using for both your library and tape drive? Here is a link to the latest driver for IBM drives. https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/drivers/driversdetails?driverId=KD92R

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello biko5,

We would need to look at a drive dump from your drive and the service dump from your TL.  If you login to the web utility for your TL2000, & go to the Service Library menu, then select Save Drive Dump.   You will have an option of where to save the log on your local machine.  I will send you a private message so that you can send me the log.  Also, if you can provide me a service dump log as well. To get the service dump you go to the view logs tab. You should show a button that says Save Service Dump. If you don’t have that button then select the view button, & then the Save Service Dump should show.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Sam, I've got the same issue. TL2000 Library and ISCSI card, managed to reset TL2000 but not able to default ISCSI card. Presently I'm not able to connect to the card, tried the 10.10.10.10 but no response, I can see activity lights on the NIC, tried using wireshark to work out the Ip address with no joy. If I can't connect to card, how can i reset? Kwt
