Storage PowerValut MD3820f management failure

Hello guys,

I have an issue with my MD3820f storage. I was trying to increase the size of a virtual disk in RAID10 mode by adding some new HDD's. The process started but halted for a couple of hours in initialization of 20%. I try to reboot the storage and the result is this:

My FC ports does not communicate, on of the controllers (controller 0) at the moment of start keeps all lights on (i have not plug any thing on FC or ISCSI ports). I can only ping the management port of controller 1 but i cant access it with MDSS software.

Iam very confused because i think i have tried every thing that i know.

Regards

Hello emullaraj,

When you rebooted your MD3820f did you power down all host first then power down your MD3820f, or did you reboot each controller from MDSM?  Do you have the serial/console cable that came with you MD3820f?  If you do have the cable, then you will need to do a terminal session on the controller. If you capture the session then we can view it to see if your controllers are stuck in a boot loop or not. You will need to start Hyperterminal/Tera Term, Putty and configure the serial connection settings with the following parameters:

    Baud rate: 115200

    Data bits: 8

    Parity bit: None

    Stop bit: 1

    Flow control: None

You will want to pull the controller first then reinsert the controller into your MD3820f and you should see the controller boot.   We will need to capture the boot of bother controllers.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.
