TL1000 cleanings are rather frequent

Hi, we are using relatively new Dell-branded LTO7 tapes and are seeing cleaning requests every ~3TB or ~12 hours or so. We are attempting to do one-time backups of directories on-the-fly from the Linux command line.  Auto-clean is set up on the drive, but the writing process aborts anyway. This frequency is pretty disruptive, making me wonder if we just need to make smaller data chunks for writing.

Prior to this, we had updated the firmwares on drive and library based on various posts, but the update hasn't made a substantial difference.

The library log is reporting [020E] Detected drive error.

We do have support on the contract. I just wonder if there is something we are overlooking.

Thanks

Hi,

Have you tried manually cleaning? Page 56 https://dell.to/2RK4efV Smaller data transfer may be worth trying.

Thanks. Yes, I have been running the cleaning step remotely all along. We are getting a PASSED/OK status from the ITDT system test, so hopefully it is just a matter of doing smaller transfers to reduce the number of failures.
