TapeWare on PowerVault 100T, not reporing tape errors? lost data?

I have a Power edge 700 with W2003, with a PowerVault 100T tape drive, using Tapeware (SP3)

It has been working fine (4Y) until it started to say the tapes are dirty, now I replace them in a timely maner.

But now my 500Gb SATA drive I added a year ago failed, (Clicking death).

So when I tried to restore some folders, it only gets a few of them, then asks for a tape number that was retired years ago.

Why is it not restoring all of it? Missing files were at end of folders (ZZ*),  I suspect the Tapeware was not reporting that the tape was full.

The logs said no errors, but the files were 18,000 of the 36,000.

What gives?  I can't restore files that I though were being backup.

I do the normal MTWT, Friday1-5, Month1-3, Quartly 1-4, year end.

I got most of the files from a secondary back up from a 8g USB flash card.
