md3000i question

Hi,

We have an md3000i with 2 controler that we would like to connected to a server with a single switch.

The server is a power edge R710 with 4 nics.

Can we use the current 4 nics for ISCSI connection for use with the md30001? or we need to add 4 new iscsi enable nics to the server?

Thanks

You shouldn't need to.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your update,

it looks like the md3000i in combenation with switch and server 2016 will not work in our case. so I wnet back to the old config and connect the port 0 and port 1 of the controller 0 directly yo 2 NICs of the server and from there the ISCSI initiator see the IPs of the Array and I can add the new host to the Array.

Now I cannot map the virtual disks to the new server because there are maped already to the crashed server.

What is correct way to map the virtual disks to the new server?

currently I see this:

nts52 is the crashed server:

Hello mrshahin,

Here is a link to the users guide and if you look on page 43 it explains how to configure host access. https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_ser_stor_net/esuprt_powervault/powervault-md3000i_user%27s%20guide20_en-us.pdf

You can remove host access as the steps are listed on page 46.  If you look on page 60 it explains how to map a virtual disk to a host.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi, I am having a very similar problem. The host server also died (crashed). I got a new Server 2019 Data Center. The software was installed successfully and I can manage and see the array. It is in an optimal stage. However, I can't connect the iSCSI to it. In the MS Configuration Utility, the step where I can select the iSCSI port and link it to the host address is grayed out. See Image 1.

My configuration is displayed in image 2
