Gtx 1070 not recognized

I have a Dell T3610 server with an E5-1620 v2. I bought a gtx 1070 for it. I first used the server with a gt 1030 and it worked fine however when I plugged the gtx 1070 there is no signal to the monitor. I plugged the 8 pin to the GPU and the fan is running but there is no signal. I tested with both GPUs in server and only gt 1030 was recognized in the device manager. Is there an incompatibility issue and if so why the gt 1030 is compatible and the other not. ozeki6,

Have you verified that the GTX1070 is actually functional by testing it in a different PC?

I haven't. I'm sending it back for testing. Do you have any idea if there should be any incompatibility between the motherboard and the GPU ?

While I have never installed a GTX1070 into a T3610 (I own neither item), I see no reason why they wouldn't work well together barring a hardware failure. The specs seem to say that they are compatible. Good luck with this project. Randy

Did you install the appropriate Nvidia (or MSI) drivers for the GTX 1070 before you installed the video card?

I've used a 1060 GTX in a T3500 and am using a GTX 1080Ti in a T7610, so yours should work too.
