1355cn, lost password
HI,
i've changed the password of my printer DELL 1355 last week, i didn't note it and today i need to change the settings of the printer and i really can't remember my password. Is there a way to reset the printer to the default settings or to reset only the password ? Can someone please help me, it's urgent.

GUYROBERT,
From reading the Dell 1355 Users Manual page page 180
NOTE: If you forgot your password, initialize NVM (non-volatile memory) to restore
the password to the default (NULL). See "Reset Print Server" on page 178.

Thanks you RICK for the tip. Unfortunatly when I click on start to initialize the NVM, it asks me for the actual password wich I don't have. Is there another way to restore the default setting without going throu the web configuration tool ? I am desperate.
Thank you in advance for your help!!!

GUYROBERT,
Factory default password is 0000
Try reading page 402 in the manual. Initialize NVM It looks like after you initialize the NVM, then restart the printer, it resets back to default.
NOTE: If you forgot your password, initialize NVM (non-volatile memory) to restore
the password to the default (NULL). See "Reset Print Server" on page 178.

I have tried to reset the password I but no luck.
I reinitialised NVM. Restarted printer and then used 0000 as the password - no good.
I tried using null and NULL - no good.
The manual suggested that the reset password should be using administrator privilege. Tried that - same result.
I tried updating the firmware. Nothing seems to work.
Ughhh. Frustration.
Any other suggestions would be helpful and much appreciated.

sebastiondarcy,
Some default passwords are 3355 or 0000 or blank
I have seen where they had to reflash the NV ram or something like that.

Nope, 3355 doesn't work. Nor does 1355.

That document details the printer menu's to refresh NVRAM. I have done that soooo many times. It works in that all the other values are reset but I still can't update the address file. It asks for password details.
It says the user name is admin. I've tried Admin, ADMIN and admin.
The default password is said to be NULL. I've tried NULL, null, 0000, 00000, 1355, 3355 as well as leaving it blank.
It can't be this difficult. It is after all just a printer. There has to be something that is not correct in the manual or some very simple thing.
Ughhhhhhh.
But thanks for your suggestions. . . .

Got the private message you sent.
One point - I don't think I have managed to change the default password at all.
With every thing I have done it has asked for user name and password. Filling in admin plus blank I get exactly the same popup window asking for password and username. When I give up it tells me authendication failed.
I have already been using the web page as your note suggests and tried all the sensible things- same result.
What next?

I too am having the same issue, trying to reset the admin password. Iam getting same message to enter the admin user name and the password to even initialize the NVM. I understand your frustration.
Did you ever find a solution?

If you have not solved your problem, I did just find a solution to the problem I was having.
For wired Network Settings, on the printer console:
