1700n Flash fails to upload

Found a near perfect 1700n with 25xx page count!  It installed and prints perfectly!  But cannot get the latest firmware to upload and flash using the printer web server.  From UPDATE PRINT SERVER FIRMWARE, I BROWSE to the folder with the 141_C20.FLI file.  I click FLASH.  Status changes from Idle to 0% sent, waits 15-30 seconds, then fails with Send Failed() : Lost Communications.  Any help?  I remember "the Llynster" helping someone & suggesting a solution using the parallel port.  I am using a Latitude D610 running Vista Business 32bit.
