968W printer driver attempting to reinstall and recieve " must reboot computer before installation"

I have uninstalled and then attempted to reinstall my 968W printer into my Inspiron 1525 laptop with Vista that was installed when purchased.  it is a 7 32 bit .

I receive the above msg when trying to reinstall and have checked to make sure the old driver was uninsttalled and made sure all documents have been deleted.

Can anyone assist me?

erb3,

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print job in the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Start, control panel, programs and features, Dell 968w Printer, uninstall

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed.
Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 7 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 7 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista
Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on).
