B1265DFW Scanning

I'm setting up this printer for use in a small office and have a few problems, mostly with scanning at this point. Every time I want to "scan to PC" I have to select all the setup options. Is this really the way this should work? 

Also, I wanted to be able to scan directly to email but it seems I can't use a USB connection to accomplish this. Can I set up a scan to email if the printer is connected with a USB cable?

The LCD panel is not backlit? Is there a setting to turn on a backlight?
