C1760NW, macOS 11.0 Big Sur, success

Screenshot 2020-12-03 at 11.28.03.png

Hi folks,

I just wanted share with you all that I managed to get our printer working with macOS 11.0 Big Sur!  We have a Dell C1760NW which is connected wirelessly to our network.

The latest driver version from 2015 (Printer_C1660_C1760_Installer_Dell_A05_MAC) no longer installs, it just fails at the end instead of completing the install.

My workaround was to use Xerox drivers!  In my case after trying a few different ones, the CP215w drivers work great for my model.

I've read elsewhere of other success also using Xerox drivers. It may take a little trial and error to get the correct match for your printer but it's definitely worth a go. An online search can throw up details of similar components used in the printers design/build, so it's worth doing a little online research if you can.

Until Dell get their finger out with Big Sur updates  (will they even bother? They had the whole macOS beta testing period to get ready!), this may be worth a try as it worked perfectly for us!

Everything works from sharpness settings to correct supply levels

Appreciate that my friend.. I created an account just to share my success!!

I hope others have some success!  Maybe we can create a list of substitute drivers if people find other working Xerox options!

Awesome, thank you so much! I just got a Dell C1660w running properly with the exact same driver.

Many thanks, worked perfectly on C1760NW. Thought would need to roll back OS to Catalina. Great work!

This is great! Thank you sooooo much! For others:

1. Install this software

2. Add printer

3. Under "Use", select "Select Software" (remember not to use "Autoselect" or "Generic PostScript printer")

4. Under the new "Printer Software" popup, select "FX DocuPrint CP215 w 1.1" (or latest)

5. Enjoy!

Folks - the CP215w drivers page no longer has any drivers for download.  Instead, there is a link to a MacOS 11 compatibility doc, which says that the 215 drivers for 11 aren't going to be available until the end of Feb.

So, does it look like they took down their drivers for now?  Tx

If any of y'all hear about a Xerox (or other) Big Sur driver that will work for a Dell C2665dnf, please let me know! Thanks.

Oh, BTW, I got my Dell printer/scanner to work on my M1 Air. I had to go into Security & Privacy and tell it to "Open it anyway" when it complained about the driver package.

Worked well on my M1 Mac Mini - Thanks! I really didn't think I needed to buy a printer again. Just need Dell do some tweaking to the pkg install to allow arm64 install on some of their drivers.

hostArchitectures="x86_64,arm64"

Hello!

Does anybody encounter this kind of solution for Dell 2330dn?

Is not working with this Xerox driver. Any ideas?

Thank you!!!
