C1765NFW, not recognizing/accepting new toner cartridge
I have a c1765nfw all-in one printer. A few days ago I noticed it was printing pretty light. I took the cartridge (black) out and shook it a few times. Put it back in the printer. I restarted the printer and the message came up that the cartridge was empty and needed to be replaced. I did not believe this as it is not that old. Nonetheless, I got a new cartridge and put it in the printer. Giving me the same message "Replace Cartridge."
What is odd is that there were no messages prior to this telling me the cartridge was low, etc.

Just a note. I have also cleaned off the chip and contacts. Has no effect.

I am fooling around a bit. I inadvertently ejected the cartridge while the printer was "on". I pushed the cartridge in slowly. As I was pushing it in, just before it snapped the display got back to normal printing mode. Then about a second or two after it went back to error code. Got to be something with the cartridge, chip or seating of the cartridge.

I did not find anything in the pages listed. I have an error code of 093-933. I have turned off the printer pulled the power cord and cable, reinstalled and restarted. No change. Also dusted out the area around the cartridge. I also got into the customer mode buy have not figured out how to detect anything useful.

Thanks for the idea. I am trying to "print" parameters. I got that. I just seems to be sitting on "processing."

This can be one of three problem. First the toner sensor that detects the toner in the printer there is a test that you can run in customer mode that will let you test the functionaliy of the sensor. next the toner developer housing, the part that the toner sits down on, if you can find information on that part, you might need to reseat it . And lastly the MCU (machine control unit). If that card is bad, it will throw errors.

Where can I find a list of commands or instructions for the customer mode?

Thanks. I have the owner's manual. I can find nothing in it about customer mode.

Hi iguanarana,
If you can PM over your service tag and the error you are getting I'll have a look into this for you.
Thanks,
Mick.

Did this ever get resolved? I have the same problem. My printer will not recognise even a new Magenta cartridge. I have two and they both seem to have plenty of toner in them yet they aren't being recognized/

Hi alansides,
Please PM (envelope on the top right) over your service tag and the serial numbers of the toners along with the 6 digit error code you get on the printer.
Thanks,
Mick.
