C2660dn color laser printer error 016-317
Have the subject printer and it's locked with an error code showing. It won't communicate with the computer with either the ethernet or USB connections. Does anyone know how to reset the printer (say to default settings) using only the on-printer controls, e.g., off/on switch and buttons?
This is driving me nuts!

Geez. Louise! There have been 81 views and no responses. I was hoping at least someone from Dell would see this post and send a simple reset procedure, e.g., hold the "X" button while turning on the printer.
No luck so far. I really hope this thing doesn't become a boat anchor. But right now it's totally unusable.

I have a C3760dn and found the default reset option under Menu -> Admin Settings -> Maintenance -> Reset Defaults. Not sure if it is the same for C2660dn.

Here are some suggestions:
1) Download the latest manual and look for "Resetting Defaults" page 201 (www.dell.com/.../manuals). This page gives you the step-by-step control panel method to reset the device.
2) If the 016-317 error persists, then make sure you have the latest firmware for the C2660dn (www.dell.com/.../drivers).

Thanks, I appreciate it. I do see the reset procedure and I'll give it a try. I got so frustrated that I bought a new printer but I'd still like to save this older one.
