TMT102065,
When you scan the document to Microsoft Word, are you using the Dell All-In-One Center to do this?

TMT102065,
You do have the OCR Program installed, correct?
If so, you need to add Microsoft Word to the list of applications to send scans to, default .rft
Update list of applications to send scans to
Scanning
Scanning using USB connection, open the Dell All-In-One Center, click on scanning and copying and scan from there.
Scanning wirelessly, use the scan buttons on the printer.

Hi Rick,
How do I find out if the OCR program is installed properly?, I have Vista on my XPS 410 system. All I need to do is change a date on a document and then reprint with corrected date and when I scan the images turn into symbols, gibberish. What on earth is wrong?

TMT102065,
Start, all programs, Abbyy fine reader, open the program. If it's there and you didn't open it before, then you might have to do the agreement. Register the product and tell it came with your Dell Printer. You will probably be prompted with a way to update the program.
If the pprogram did not install, then try using Simple OCR, it should work nicely with your printer.

TMT102065,
I scan my photos to IrfanView, but have also scanned to paint. I have scanned some document to Open Office. You need to use the Dell All-In_one Center to scan to Microsoft Word, make sure the file extention is .rtf
How to add Microsoft Word to the list of applications is listed below. It usually will scan all pages first, then open the OCR Program and then it will open Word with your text, at least it does for Open Office.

TMT102065,
I have my printer using a Dell Wireless Printer Adapter 3300, so I cannot look at the Dell All-In-One Center settings. Look in the Dell All-In-One Center and click on scanning and copying there should be a setting to choose Color Photo, that's the setting I use. I installed the drivers for USB Cable and then my battery died, so I hope I have all the information that I wanted to include.
Look in the 926 manual
<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>
and see what they suggest.
Try scanning the document to Paint or similar program, I use IrfanView
I then would cut the image(s) out of the document I need and save them seperately. The using the scanned document, try deleting the gibberish and then insert the image(s) to the document.
