Dell 922 Button Error

Just purchased a new system for my father from Dell 4700c along with a Dell 922 All In One Printer.

On computer Boot up receive an Alert Box with the message  Dell 922 Button Error.  Have Uninstalled and re-installed the printer but the error message is always present on boot.  As far as I know there is no problem in the operation of the printer.  But the error is always there.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Greg

I just bought a Dimension 4700C and 922 AIO printer separately and tried installing the software and get the same error. In talking to a dell tech rep., we walked through all sorts of scenerios and he felt that since when I hit the scan button on the printer and it comes up as "copy" on the display screen that the button was broken. He sent me a new printer yestereday and I have the exact same problem still. Just want to let you know that you are not alone. If you get an answer please let me know.

Here is a fix that was just sent.  Haven't had time to try yet but here you go.

This error is caused when the file "AcBtnMgr_Xxx.exe" becomes corrupt.
This file has an entry in Startup programs and it is responsible for
showing system tray icon for the printer. To resolve the issue I would
suggest you to please perform following troubleshooting steps:

A. Uninstall Printer driver

To uninstall the Printer software, please use the following steps:
* Click Start- (Settings)- Control Panel- Add/Remove Programs
* Click Printer software
* Click the Add/Remove button
* Click Apply
* Click OK and follow all prompts
* When finished, close all boxes
* Click Start- Shutdown- Restart- OK or Click Start- Turn Off Computer-
Restart

B. Launch the System File Checker (SFC) utility in Microsoft Windows XP

For instructions to launch the System File Checker (SFC) utility in
Microsoft Windows XP, I am sending you the Dell Knowledge Base article.
To open that article use the link listed below. Please follow the steps
given below if you are unable to view the Dell website link:

* Log on to www.support.dell.com
* Under ?Consumer? Section, click ?Home and Home Office?.
* If listed, click on ?Troubleshooting (Dell KB)?.
* Type in your Service Tag (Press Enter).
* Now copy and paste the link in the address bar of the browser and
click on ?Go?.

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/kb/en/document?dn=1063866&c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19

The above link includes the article, "How do I launch the System File
Checker (SFC) utility in Microsoft® Windows® XP?"

C. Reinstall Printer driver

Insert the Drivers and Utilities CD that was shipped with your printer,
into the CD drive.
The Installation Wizard windows appear and search for an appropriate
driver and then follow the wizard to complete the installation.

Retest. If the problem persists, proceed to Step listed below:

* Clear the startup
Step 1: click on Start -> run -> type 'MSCONFIG' -> click OK
Step 2: Click on Startup Tab -> click on Disable all button
Step 3: Click on Apply button -> click close ->Restart the computer

Hope it works!

Cheers,

Greg (Infinion) :smileyhappy:

Just curious, but were you both running Service Pack 2?

I am not exactly sure what Package 2 is, but after trying all many suggestions and a new printer I still have the problem.

There's an easy solution here: just delete the file that is causing the problem (dlbtbmon.exe).

The only thing this program apparently does is put an icon in your system tray and, as people have pointed out, the icon doesn't work to well anyhow.

I contacted e-support over this 1st and they suggested I spend a few hours reinstalling the OS. My time is money too so may I suggest that a paid Dell prgrammer spend a few hours patching a program that has a bug!
