Dell 964 Photo All-in-One (Printer) Installing Issues
Hey Community,
To begin, the printer is a Dell 964 Photo All-In-One. It is about 8 years old? My laptop is less than a year old, Dell Inspiron N7110. I have downloaded and used the Patch to clean out / remove any Dell Printers and any jams in the Printer Queue. Restarted the computer as prompted.
The problem after the restart is -
I downloaded both the Vista-32 and 64 Bit. (No I did not use them at the same time). I installed the 64 Bit and I come up with
Script: C:\Drivers\printer\964\dlcjEN.vbs
Line:11
Char:1
Error: Permission denied
Code: 800A0046
Source: Microsoft VBScript runtime error
Now, I reloaded the patch, cleaned out the printer, and restarted the computer. This time however, I used the 64 Bit and clicked ' Run As Admin '. It came to the installation screen (Home or Network computer) and every time (I have tried two times) the computer has went through the check list and ended up at the last one and then disappeared. At the fourth checkpoint, the application disappears and the printer is still inactive. Not detected either.
To check the Vista 32 Bit, I used the patch, restarted, and installed the set up / download / whatever is listed in the .zip file. Everything runs through normally except when I get to the very end. Where it states 'Driver is not detected'. Tried to troubleshoot but it just links me to the Dell Support.
Does anyone have any advice, information, or do I just need to find a new printer?

Hi,
Please disconnect the USB cable that runs from the printer to the computer and uninstall the printer driver by using third party uninstaller software. Here is a link to download one.
http://revouninstallerpro.com/download-professional-version.php
Install the software and uninstall the printer driver using the Advanced Uninstall option from the software.
The software prompts asking you to delete the Registry keys corresponding to the printer driver. Select all and delete them.
Restart the computer to remove any traces of the printer software.
Perform the steps below and ensure that the services required for the printer to work are started.
Right click each service mentioned below, click properties. Set the startup type as “Automatic” from the drop down menu and click “Start”.
The list of services to be enabled are
Download the printer driver from the link below.
ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/Printer/R146816.exe (Windows Vista 64 Bit, Windows 7 32 Bit and 64 Bit)
ftp://ftp.us.dell.com/Printer/R146717.exe (Windows Vista 32 Bit)
NOTE: Please do not connect the printer using the USB cable to the computer prior to installing the drivers. Ensure that the printer is powered on.
1 Please copy the link above and paste it in the address bar of the new internet explorer window.
2 Save the file to the desktop.
3 Double-Click on the downloaded file.
4 Click “Yes”, when the utility prompts to extract the files.
5 Click Start.
6 Type “R146816” (Windows Vista 64 Bit, Windows 7 32 Bit and 64 Bit) or “R146717” (Windows Vista 32 Bit) in the search box and click on the file listed above.
7 Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the installation.
8 Connect the printer using the USB cable when prompted.
Please let me know if this helps.

With the Vista 32 Bit, I have tried 'Run as Admin' and not running as admin, and the same thing.

Installed Revo Uninstaller Pro (as stated above). Clicked the Dell Photo AIO Printer 964 and uninstalled.
1. Creating systems restore point-done
Creating a full registry backup - done
2. Analyzing and starting the program's built-in uninstaller for the default installer
However at number two, a dialogue box popped up and stated,
Running the application's uninstaller failed! Possible invalid install command.
What does this mean / is it a problem?

letseathesky,
Glad you got it working! :emotion-21: Thnak for posting back. I used to own a Dell 964 Printer, so I knew it worked for Windows 7 64-bit.
You system is Winodws Home Preimun 64-bit.
In case you need it, Allow a printer past Norton
Take care,
Rick
