Rick and anyone else with the same problem,
I found the solution at Printer Error 0x0000000d, the post dated 19 June 2007. I ran the patch on the Dell desktop removing the old drivers on the XP machine. Then installed the vista 32-bit driver on the desktop machine. Finally then installed the vista 64-bit driver on the win7 lenovo. I expect I'll have to remove the old driver and install the vista 32-bit driver on a dell xp notebook I have on the network but that shouldn't be an issue. In the end I didn't even have an issue with the firewalls to sort out! Result!

Hi, thank you for the help. I was able to get the printer working by following your instructions however after running the patch to uninstall the printer ("Download and run this patch to completely remove the printer from your computer. Run the patch, a MUST on Vista machines, until it prompts you to restart your computer.") windows tries to open a program on the desktop that just gives an error symbol. Any idea what happened?

thornt,
First try running Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.
Disconnect the printer.
The double click on the patch. The patch is a printer cleanup utility and works with XP, Vista and Windows 7.
Try running Finding System Information remove your product ID and post the rest of the information back here.

thornt,
Some of the printer cleanup utility patches, seem to remove some other Dell programs. Most can be downloaded at Drivers & Downloads or My Dell Downloads :: Login
Glad you got it working! :emotion-21: Thanks for posting back.
Take care,

Hi RIck,
It seems that after running the patch it caused the "Dell Stage" program to stop working correctly and that is causing the error to come up. It would not respond to any commands except to right click and select "quit". After doing this and restarting the program it seems to be working fine. I suppose that the problem is fixed now. Thanks again for your help with getting the printer working.

I recently installed the Dell 924 on my computer. I'm running Windows 7 so I installed it using the Vista 64-bit driver. The printer is working fine, however, I'm having problems scanning documents. I have the Dell All-In-One-Centre installed and when I click scan on the pad on my computer the centre automatically loads up. A preview image then displays, but when I click scan now nothing seems to happen. I don't get any noises emanating from my printer either, as you might expect if it was working. I've also tried using the windows fax and scan programme, but it just freezes whenever I try scanning with this.
I've also tried running the All-In-One-Centre in compatibility mode for Windows Vista SP2, but it then displays an error message saying the scan was not successful and the printer may not be plugged in properly. One other difference in compatibility mode is that the LCD screen on my printer also displays a message saying it's scanning after I have the error message on my PC.
Any suggestions?

What are you trying to scan to?
What virus protection are you using?

Andy,
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs in the queue.
Disconnect the printer.
Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.
Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
Download the Vista 64-bit drivers. Install the Vista 64-bit drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on)
Links to the patch/drivers can be found at...
Dell 924 Photo All-In-One Printer owners thread (W7) \
The drivers I offer are English(US) Drivers. If they don't work, let me know I have a language solution and we might have to create an English (UK) Folder.

Hello Andy,
Advice: Don't try to use the DELL toolbox to scan. It'll block the scan process and you'll have to restart your machine to be able to do something again with your printer. Try using only the Win7 scan tools. (Right click on the printer/scanner in the printer section and choose Scan documents).
For me, it worked.
Regards,
Boai.

Boai,
Thank you for sharing. Your language solution has helped many people, even with different models.
I just wanted to share that with you and thank you for finding the solution.
Take care,
Rick
