My printer/laptop will not print. The V305 will successfully scan documents to my laptop. It will also have no problems copying any documents. When printing is attempted, the foll

Communication not available

The printer cannot communicate with the computer

Try these solutions:

-Ensure printer is on

-disconnect & reconnect power

-"                                         " usb

-check firewall

-restart computer

I've enacted all of those possible solutions and also, uninstalled and reinstalled the driver with no success. I'm unaware how to address the "communication not available" popup when there is some form of communication. My appreciation goes anyone's way who may have advice.

KKBlasing,

Make and model of your computer and operating system. 32-bit or 64-bit?

You said USB connection, correct?

What virus program and firewall are you using?

Try running Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs from the queue.

Try this tweak and see if it helps...

Go to device manager(right click my computer, left click properties, left click hardware, left click device manager)

Go to the USB Controller section and click the + sign.

Go to each USB Root Hub and right click on it, left click properties, left click power management. Uncheck the box, allow computer to turn off this device to save power.

Restart your computer.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1501 with, 64-bit I believe. My OS is Windows 2007. Yes, it is a USB connection. Symantec Endpoint Protection is my virus program and firewall system. There exists no print jobs in the queue. Thanks for the quick reply.

KKBlasing,

Did your computer come with Windows 7? 32-bit or 64-bit?

Try reinstalling the printer using the instructions below and see what happens.

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs from the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Start, control panel, programs and features, Dell V305 Printer, uninstall.

Restart your computer.Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

With the computer online, insert the printer disk, then follow the instructions. It will prompt you to connect the printer(powered on)
