No compatible printers are installed
Hi, I bought a Dell Inspiron 620 (with Win7) and a Dell V715w printer (advertised to be compatible with Win7) to go with it. I set both up together. I installed the driver using the disk provided with the printer. I chcked for updates to the driver at the time of installation, it said no updates were available. OK, so everything seemed to go well, and the printer seems to work, except for a few flakey things. The printer setup placed an icon on my desktop called "Launch Dell Printer Home", When I click on the icon, I get a window that says "No compatible printers are installed". It doesn't say what the incompatibility is with. I tried to fix it by reinserting the setup disk, and doing a repair installation. Nothing changed (but at least it didn't get worse. :emotion-1: Anybody have any idea what's going on here, and how I fix it?

shelquis,
Uninstall the printer in programs and features.
Restart your computer. Check to see if the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal If the printer is still there, then right click on it, then left click remove device.
That should give you a clean start to install the printer.

shelquis,
Is the Dell V715w Printer connected with the usb cable or using the wireless adapter? If the adapter, what color is the adapter on the printer?
What virus program and firewall are you using?
Try running System Information REMOVE YOUR PRODUCT ID and post the rest of the information back here.
Do you have the printer disk?

MyV715w printer is connected wirelessly. The color of the WiFi status indicator on the front of the printer is solid green.
I'm using Microsoft Secrity Essentials and the Windows firewall.

shelquis,
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs from the queue.
Make sure the printer is NOT attached to the computer with a usb cable.
Start, control panel, programs and features, Dell V715w Printer, uninstall.
Restart your computer. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
With the computer online, insert the printer disk. Choose network and select add aditional computer, then follow the instructions.

In your third step, to uninstall the printer.....Is that the same as "remove device"? That's what I see when I right click the printer in Devices and Printers.
