OS El Capitan Drivers - When?

Like many others I can't print properly to my C1765nfw under OS El Capitan on Mac. Its a new printer - so this is very frustrating. Using workarounds on Apple forums I can now print single copies, but not multiple copies.

Come on Dell let's have some proper drivers for what is a good printer that needs to be kept up to date.

I agree, all I could find was the original drivers from 2013. However there is a link

Needles and Haystacks comes to mind!

it worked for me as far as I have tested it, so thank you Dell.

*** Alan,

Thank you for heads up. I am having our support site updated to reflect the new drivers released. Not sure why they are not showing properly as they did on 11/12.

When is Dell going to release a driver for the 1720 printer for El Capitan?

That printer is nearly 10 years old. I highly doubt they will spin drivers for that.

Not an unreasonable request IMHO. The 1720 is a workhorse that continues to be found across home and corporate environments. I personally am extremely frustrated that I can no longer use my printer the way I need to. Come on Dell!!!!

Hi Folks,

To answer the immediate question there are no plans to release any further Windows 10 related drivers for older units than what we have already released. This is due mainly the cost associated to develop new drivers versus the demand/benefit for them.

Utilizing drivers for the 1765 is not recommended and may cause more harm than good. This is because those two models us entirely different print engines from separate vendors.

That being said you have two options. You can either use the Windows 7 drivers in compatibility mode built into Windows 10.

http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN297759

The second is using the open source print drivers we have here. They may limit support to some fonts and print job types but should work for pretty much any job you have.

It is always best to confirm that the equipment you own or wish to use with newer software/hardware prior to implementing such change.

Joseph - appreciate your response, but this whole thread is about El Capitain - i.e. Mac drivers....

That is an old printer, but as a first step why not try the drivers for the 1765 which you can get from this link www.dell.com/.../DriversDetails;fileid=3496385329

Your are correct, sorry I was talking about Windows 10 just before I wrote up my response and it crossed over. The first and last part of my post still remain relevant though with regards to updates. The last release we support with this model was 10.4.

The unit does support PCL 5e and 6 so it would be worth trying the generic driver built in to the Mac OS and setting to IPPrint.

For what it's worth, the latest OS X drivers for the 2330DN work pretty well (duplex printing fine, but if you need to scale from A4 to Letter, like I do, not great)...

Thanks.  That worked.

Having had the C1765nfw MFP recommended to me, and seeing that it was compatible with Macs I purchased one.  It arrived a couple of days ago and I set it up over the last couple of nights.  My OS is El Capitan 10.11.6 and I downloaded the most recent driver Printer_C1765_Installer_And_Application_Dell_A05_MAC.dmg.

Although I can get a single sided print, that's all I can do.  I cannot select the Duplex printing which is really what I needed and I cannot perform any other functions from the Laptop, on the LAN or wirelessly.  Is this the best I can expect?  Incidentally I installed the Windows 7 driver on my work laptop and it works as I would expect.  Any advice please?
