two lexmark printers down

hopefully somebody else has had the same problems i'm having.  i have two lexmark printers from work that are down.  whenever i go to print something it tells me that the cover is open when it is not.

 

both printers made a awful noise when i went to make copies.  so i lifted the lid and looked things over, when i went to close the lid it did not want to close so i kind of forced it to close, and now it won't work at all because it keeps telling me the lid is open.  and it won't turn off unless i unplug it from the wall.  anybody have any suggestions?
