Windows Live 2011 will NOT install!!! Help Please!

Hello All -

Due to massive problems I had to un-install Windows Live. Now it will not install. I have tried online with Windows firewall on & off. I downloaded the entire .exe file and tried installing form the hard drive. Things seem to go well until the 34% mark; there it hangs for 15 -20 seconds and goes on until the error message is displayed that there were problems and the programs could not be installed.

Error: 0x80040609

Source: wllogin-amd64

I am unable to find that error code listed anywhere. If anyone has any ideas I would be grateful to hear them!

As always thank you in advance.

System would not boot. I had to "restore" several times, several different dates/times to get it stable again. I use ccleaner daily, all HD's are 0% fragmented.

What massive problems? Try running ccleaner, cleaner and registry cleaner. Next run defraggler and then reattempt the install.

Well personally in that case I would perform a clean install. Its likely that your system still isn't stable, hence the problems you are experiencing.

However there are a few other things you could try.

    1. First Computer > Uninstall or Change a Program, make sure no Windows Live Essentials Products are listed.

    2. go to C:/Program Files and to C:\Program Files (x86) and delete the Windows Live folders. Reboot and then attempt the install.

    3. Next go under the assumption that your User File is Corrupted, follow the instructions here and then reinstall the Windows Live Essentials.

Thanks for the advice. It must be a problem with the User File. EVERYTHING else has been solid as a rock for better than two weeks. Only Windows Live is still problematic.
