how to transfer data and photos from E521 to new laptop
I'm not very computer friendly so I need help transferring data I want to keep and pictures from the pc to the laptop. What slots, what cables, what devices, what do I need to do,
Also after moving files and pictures how do I erase rest of my memory on pc so I can give it to charity

One of the easiest ways, assuming you just want to transfer some data and pictures and not the whole drive, is a cable such as this. With it you can transfer files between systems and it comes with the necessary software.
As for wiping the drive this site has a number of suggestions with DBAN being one of the most commonly used programs.
And I commend you for deciding to donate your system. A very kind gesture indeed!

A normal conventional USB Flash-drive should do it. For like 10 years now, it is what people use instead of a floppy or even having to burn a disk.
If they are important, you might want to make a copy for the safety-deposit box or go ahead and burn a disk anyway.
