Hi

In that case you need to look at the EMC partner education cataloque and find out if you want to go for Pre sales and become and Technology architect ( TA) or the post sales and become an Implementation Engineer ( IE)..

There is quite a diffence in the 2 paths, if you find that you want to do both, I would suggest taking the TA first, that is what I have done and that worked very well...doing it the other wa around is IMHO a detour.

In either case you need to start with the E10-001 ISM certification and the go for the Specialist level on either TA or IE.

when those have been done you can start looking at the Expert level..

when you log in to Education.emc.com with your powerlink credentials you can find practice tests that you can use to gauge the level of your skills, and that may give you and idea of how much studying you need...

Good luck with the Certifications.

Hello Desir,

I am Implementation engineer Expert on Clariion and the way I prepared for this exam is the ILT "performance workshop" as well as the "Exchange integration for Clariion". The rest you need is all "common knowledge when you are IE."

Hello Desire -

Welcome to the EMC Proven Professional community! The EMC Proven Professional certification program is designed as a role based program because we view certification as representation of readiness to perform a role.  A role based program takes into account a number of factors that are unique to a specific role.  Within each role, it is possible to build upon previously earned certifications by moving through our Associate, Specialist and Expert certifications.  Where to begin depends, to a degree, on the role you are interested in pursuing.

The suggested curriculum will differ depending on which role you are performing.  You can view our certification framework here.  Clicking on the track (role) you wish to pursue will bring you to a display of the exams within that track.  Clicking on CLARiiON Solutions will display the recommended curriculum for that exam as well as providing a link to the exam description and practice test.

Good luck!

Hi

First I think we need to be clear on what certification you are going after, as there is several possibililties.

If you are an EMC customer it is the Sttorage administrator ( the saily use of the array)

If you work for an EMC partner, you can go for platform engineer ( rack and stack), Implementation engineer ( setting up the software features of the array)og Technology architect ( Presales).

To achieve an Expert level certification you need

Associate level

Specialist level

Expert level

Taken in that order the exact exam differ on what track you are going for.

SNIA is not required, I have the IE on specialist level and the TA on expert...all by purchasing the VILT or atetnding workshops ( for the VNX)

I was wondering why you're not talking this on the VNX instead of Clariion, as the Clariion is not sold anymore, you can only do upgrades...So unless you have some really good reasons I would go for the VNX exams instead....

Hope This helps

Hi Desire

It would really help to know what your role with EMC is Partner or Customer.

And which of the Certifications you are looking at getting on the Expert Level.

But yes the VNX has replaced the Clariion and celerra systems, and Clariions are not sold anymore, they can only be upgraded.

The managing interface on both boxes are almost identical, the only place where there is a big difference in if you are working on Unitied systems ( file and block)....

But depending on what Certification you are planning on taking there are pros and cons on taking either VNX or Clariion.

Completely agree with you Jim,but since the project in which i am working on has CLARiiON and DMX boxes. So i am thinking i can get the hands on before writing the exam.Regarding VNX, many of my colleagues and Senior has also refered.

Jim, you mean to say that VNX has surpassed Clariion and does it have a wide scope compared to Clariion?

You first need to pass for the Associate exam inorder to get IE, indeed. And after you're IE, you can add the "expert" level to that one.

If you take the classes for VNX you can always ask about the differences with Clariion. I'm sure any instructor is willing to tell you what was (Clariion) and what is (VNX).

good luck on your trainings and exams.
