Broadcom 1GB NIC speed only 100 Mbps

I have two nearly identical R610 servers sitting side by side, call them #3 and #4. Only differences are 96 and 64 GB RAM and slightly different Xeon CPUs.

Both are VM hosts, with very light duty, #4 the lighter of the two. Both run the same versions/updates of 2012R2, and both have Broadcom BCM5709C NetXtremeNICs running the same windows drivers. I have switched LAN cables at the servers - it does not make any difference.

Openmanage correctly identifies the NICs on #3 as 1000.0 Mbps. But #4 is 100.0 Mbps and that is what is operating at.

I did notice a firmware version difference

#4 (problematic) Driver Name bxnd60a Driver Image Path C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\bxnd60a.sys

Driver Version 7.4.23.2

Firmware Version Family 6.4.5 (b9x2 5.2.3, iSCSI v6.4.3)

#3 (operating properly) - same driver Firmware Version Family 5.0.13 (b9x2 5.0.11, iSCSI v4.1.6)

I suggest that you verify the model is correct. You should also check the listed capabilities of the interface within the operating system. You need to troubleshoot to find out if it is a limitation of the NIC, a result of link speed negotiation with the switch, or a setting or driver issue. You can try booting to a different operating system, like our Support Live Image, to fault isolate.
