DELL R740 XD2 "Hot-Tier"
Hello,
I would like to know how Hot-Tier works on the DELL R740 XD2.
I have seen on spec sheet as follows "Automatically tier data from 3.5” HDDs to 2.5” SSDs to balance performance and cost".
Do i configure it at Hardware RAID Level or its a software implementation?

Automatic tiering, automatically moving data based on access, would be a software implementation. I'm not aware of a supported controller that manages tiers, but I did not look through the specs of all of them. The R740XD2 provides the disk slots and controller support to configure a tiered drive solution. There are many possible ways it could be implemented.
