Dell Server SNMP Monitoring
We have Dell PowerEdge Servers running windows.
Can we monitor all the hardware parameters on normal Ethernet interfaces in Widows environment?
I need to monitor CPU, RAM, Power, Temperature
I hope we can montitor all without iDRAC.

Hi,
I can't think of anything else other than iDRAC, as it's the only hardware that could monitor the system. Alternatively, try OpenManage Enterprise; https://dell.to/2ZE2rgB

I have Dell PowerEdge R340
I have the NMS software alled IPSwitch WhatsUpGold to monitor the utilization.
I am able to monitor the power supply sttaus on iDRAC using the SNMP with the following.
Object ID: 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.5.4.600.12.1.5
However I cannot afford to have iDRAC as it require a separate network. I tried the same OID on normal Windows Ethernet network but it doesn't work. Any advise. Is the OID different on iDARC and normal ethernet?

Hi,
Based on the OID# 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.5.4.600.12.1.5 that you have used before, I tried looking for the string, seems to be different.
The OID I found on powerSupplyStatus was OID# 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.1.600.12.1.5
So it seems to be slightly different.

Hello avilt,
That's strange but as you can check here and use the OID for PSU https://dell.to/2ZIv0JT
Did you check your iDRAC settings as like previously message https://dell.to/2C81kO6
please be ensure your iDRAC configure is correct.

I am trying to monitor the power status on Ethernet network of Windows Server and not on iDARC.
Please let me know if it's possible or not.

Hi,
Can I check if you have installed OMSA in the server? https://dell.to/2Z7LImH

I have installed, now I see some progress.
Now I have 2 requirements.
There are 4 counters for Temperature, 2 for CPU (index 0 & 1) and 2 for System Board (index 3 & 4).
What is the exact OID and how do I define lower and higher range for monitoring?

i would suggest to use iDRAC service module. you dont need iDRAC direct access but you can access your iDRAC through your Operating System.

Hi,
The OID are only for the 3rd party software to decode data to be gathered only, I don't think it can be defined.
You can try use OpenManage Essentials MIB Import Utility to try find the appropriate probe. I would probably say it's Name temperatureProbeUpperCriticalThreshold Object ID 1.3.6.1.4.1.674.10892.1.700.20.1.10 but it cannot be defined. I may say it's on the 3rd party software that need to set the range, could you check on that?

Hi,
@DELL-Joey C
I have this problem too hence I am replying instead of posting new thread.
Dell R750 XS with IDRAC Enterprise edition.
installed Idrac Service Module software as well as Server administrator software and in IDrac it shows running, enabled all settings to interface to Host OS.
after installing ISM now Can access IDRAC from Host OS via web server.
enabled SNMP settings with community names.
OIDs like temperature, CPU readings are readable with MIB browser if directly connected to IDRAC Port.
but from other ports of Server they are not readable.
Host OS is - windows server 2022.
Please assist as we have multiple servers which needs to be monitored via SNMP and not using IDRAC port.
Regards,
