How to mirror disks of two different configuration

Hi All,

We have one Dell server "PowerEdge M630" and have two disks of 300GB hardware mirrored(RAID 1). As the business needs more capacity so they have ordered a new 600GB hard disk. Now, can I mirror the existing mirror to copy the data new 600GB disk.

I knew, in the case of disks having same capacity will not have any issues. But, in this case we have high capacity disk and trying to mirror it with the original disk.

Thanks

Hello.

You will have to replace one drive at a time while waiting for the rebuild process to complete before inserting the next one. You will notice that only 300GB of the total 600GB will be available for your data. The other 300GB will be unused. Depending on your controller, the RAID 1 array can be expanded to use all the 600GB space by use of the Re-configure and Expand Capacity option under the Available Tasks of the given Virtual Disk(VD).
