Is RAID Necessary on SSD?

Looking to build a virtualization server using a Dell PE 630 plus 8 x 2.5" SSD

Looking to use: Micron 1100 MTFDDAK2T0TBN-1AR1ZABYY 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 2.5" Solid State Drive

My goal is to fully utilize space, so 16GB on RAID 0 instead of 8GB on RAID 1.

Do you think at this point in 2018 RAID redundancy is needed anymore? I've used SSD drives for about 5+ years in hosting environments and never had any failure yet. None of them were even enterprise grade.

What do you think? I'll be using Centos 7x 64 bit with PERC H730P raid controller.

Hi,

If a drive failed and you had to do a full rebuild, what would the impact be?
