PE2950 random reboots

A couple of months ago our PE2950, which is used as a file server & FTP server, started to randomly reboot. Usually once a day and only during periods when the machine was being accessed by users on our LAN (only during office hours). Since there were no corresponding events in any Windows event logs, nor any recent updates, it looked like a hardware issue. So we started swapping hardware component with a spare PE2950 in order to try to eliminate the issue. We swapped the PDUs then the memory (and ran memory tests) and then swapped the server. We also swapped the PERC H800, which has a couple of MD1200's attached and the UPS. Nothing has resolved the issue and the replacement server is still randomly rebooting.

Anybody have any ideas what could be causing it?

Thanks

Hi,

It sounds like you have eliminated the hardware as the issue, unless it is something with the MD units. Is the system configured to automatically reboot on failure, if it is, you may want to turn it off and see if you can get an error code from a blue screen.

Hi Josh,

Thanks for your response.

Haven't disabled reboot on failure since it's our main file server with many users accessing it and only rebooting during office hours.

However, the minidumps may have revealed that antivirus is the culprit. We'll see. Hopefully this will simply turn out to be a case that the first thing I should have looked was the last thing I looked at.
