PowerEdge Servers

Hi,

Can DELL PowerEdge R750 server give inlet temperature data (not the motherboard temperature) over SNMP? Is the external temperature sensor necessary?

Havent take a look to SNMP but because its within the iDRAC GUI you can fetch it on the command line:

[root@esx04:~] racadm get system.thermalsettings
..
#SystemExhaustTemperature=35
#SystemInletTemperature=18..

Hi Joerg,

Thanks for the information. Does iDARC can take the data from CISCO/ HP devices? Any API is there?

iDRAC for Dell is what ILO is for HPE.   The racadm is the command line tool (windows, linux and works also remote as local as well).  Because we are a Dell only shop (Partner as well as Customer) i have no clue if HPE/Cisco have the same. But i expect there is something similar.

About SNMP. I have to download a recent MIB and perform a snmpwalk. But even when there is a OID it it will be dell specific.

If you take a look to https://www.google.com/search?q=ipmitool+temperature  there is might be another way. But again i never use ipmitool that closely.

Regards,
Joerg
