Why does Dell hate snmp?
HP Proliant servers can change the syslcation (which is immensely helpful in LibreNMS) but with Dell servers, it's inexplicably impossible. You can change their own rack/row/datacentre info section but it's not reflected in any snmpwalk.
When I try and override the stock "unknown" for sysLocation, I keep getting
Error in packet.
Reason: noAccess
Failed object: iso.3.6.1.2.1.1.6.0
This snmp sysLocation, as I discovered, has nothing to do with System.SystemInfo.SysLocation, changed via the gui/racadm.
Can someone explain why I can do this from ilo and not from idrac? It doesn't make sense to me.
Thanks

Ejasarb,
I believe the issue you're seeing is discussed on the posting here, which also has the commands needed to configure the location.
Let me know if this helps.

Thank you for the quick reply!
Yes I have edited that but unfortunately it has zero effect on the snmp location for Dell Poweredge R630. Note I have altered the output for obvious reasons...

Thank you. Let me research this further for you.
Would you confirm if the system is up to date on the BIOS and iDrac, what versions are they currently on?

Ejasarb,
Thank you for those details, and I apologize for the delay. Upon researching the issue for you, it would appear that you are accurate.
So the OID you're querying isn't a Dell one, but more of one that is usually on everything, and since it's not a Dell SNMP OID it just isn't directly tied to the Defined attributes on the iDRAC
Now if you are interested I can submit it to be added, but would need you to private message me a svc tag to use to submit it.
