rapid power pdu 16 amp 120V plug

I just received my first rack and have not had any experience with them before. I used the Dell rack advisor to configure the rack to house several PowerEdge servers and a couple Powervaults. I ordered what the Rack Advisor suggested which included "3 rapid power pdu 16 amp 120V". Now that they showed up today I discovered that they have a circular locking plug. Does anyone know if I can use a different cord so that I can plug it into a standard 15A plug? I have several UPS's, none of which accept that type of plug.

Thanks,

Mike

It sounds like a NEMA L5-20P connector on one end and it probaply has a IEC C19 connector at the other end. You probably won't find a cable with a NEMA 5-15P connector and a IEC C19 connector and I wouldn't recomend one even if you found one. I'd suggest you use a NEMA 5-20P to IEC C19 cable and use a 20A outlet.

What model UPSs do you have?

They are smaller APC standalone units. SmartUPS1500's. They accept only the standard plug size.

What you want is a NEMA 5-15P to IEC C19 Cable.  Be aware that the PDU that you have is rated for a higher amperage (20 amps) than this cable can supply. It's only rated at 15 amps and is not recommended.  However if you are sure that you will not be drawing more than 15 amps total current you can get one from here:  http://www.stayonline.com The exact cable you need is http://www.stayonline.com/detail.aspx?ID=4313

I had the same problem. My new rack came with a PDU that had the Twistlock plug and had to order a replacement. Had it next day with no problems and cost was only $8 (wo/shipping)
