update perc 6/i firmware with the dell shell script
Dear Support
I have a server with a PERC 6/i on it. It's running Linux.
I see that the firmware it's outdated:
Firmware Version : 6.3.0-0001
Minimum Required Firmware Version : 6.3.3-0002
I got " SAS-RAID_Firmware_F96NR_LN_6.3.3-0002_X00.BIN" which is the latest firmware for the PERC 6/i for Linux. This is a shell script with data after the shell program. I see in the instructions to install the firmware are mostly for windows. Do I need to take special measures to update the firmware this way? I do not want to cause any downtime on the server's users, thanks.

Updating the PERC firmware is going to require an outage, because the .BIN file essentially will stage a firmware update job for the lifecycle controller. There shouldn't be any special considerations though. At most, you may need to grant execution privileges in order to run the update.
