Can you share the iDRAC FW version and vConsole plugin used? Is your iDRAC is in Dedicated or Shared mode. Network speed also play a major role in vMedia performance. Are you accessing vConsole/vMedia from same network as iDRAC or you are trying to access from outside. You can disable encryption and check the behavior. If you have a CIFS or NFS share on the iDRAC network you can keep the ISO image on the share and use Remote File Share feature to connect the image to the server using iDRAC.

We use dell r420 and already update bios and idrac latest firmware.

yes we aceess virtual console from local area same network and the latency is about 0-1ms.

I guess because this is old device. Meanwhile we have dell r240 quite new and it run quite fast.

remote file share feature in idrac? Can u show me where is it?

our iso file located in local storage (not in remote file/NAS)

Is iDRAC is in shared or Dedicate mode? Can you try after disabling encryption for virtual media and virtual console. This will have some improvement in performance.

we  use virtual media to mount iso..

open jnlp and go to virtual media enable..and browser iso file..

just like that. local connection.. latency 0-1ms.. but the max speed is about 10mbps only..

Did you tried with encryption disabled for virtual media also. Can you also let me know how you are measuring the performance currently (You mentioned that you are getting max 10MBPS). Can you try with CD performance tools like  Nero CD DVD Speed

Hi, is it 1000M full duplex you are seeing?

June 21st, 2023 10:00

Same thing for me. It's always 10Mb max.

Hardware: PowerEdge R220
Port speed: 1000Mb verified duplex.
iDrac firmware: 2.65.65.65 newest version, same slowness.

Dell Tech should be able to replicate this without asking too many unnecessary questions. Confirm with us what you find as a proactive measure.

Hello,
up to 13G models -> 100mb
14G onwards->  1GB
I'd say do not autonegotiate with the client connection but manually set at 100mb.
