RP with XtremIO - how can you enable a user bookmark with CLI
How can you enable a specific user bookmark using the CLI with XtremIO on 4.1 SP2
The way we have always done this is with image=search_image image_type=user_bookmark search_text='the exact bookmark name'
(obviously also specifying the group and the copy)
However with XIO I get an error:
Error: Cannot use advanced search options to search for images on XtremIO arrays.
I don't want any 'advanced search' I just want to enable the exact user bookmark I recently made.
I don't understand how searching for a named bookmark in the journal has ANYTHING to do with what array is under the recoverpoint.
The help is contradictory and mentions nothing about this.
We have automated this just fine with other arrays under RP (and it doesn't matter which they are - VNX, VMAX, VPLEX etc. )

Have you've tried with the image_type as bookmark?

I had image_type=user_bookmark - but I can't just use that I also need an image option. Image_type=latest_image is accepted but then ignores my image_type and just gives me the latest not my application consistent user bookmark. Are you suggesting that image_type=bookmark then enables some way to specify which without using image=search_image which seems to give the 'not supported on XtremIO message' or that search IS accepted with image_type=bookmark?

To clarify further the HELP states:
image=latest_image | image_from_list | search_image | previous_image | next_image
The NOTES say:
Specify a value for 'image', and:
* enter 'latest' to access the latest image.
* enter 'previous' or 'prev' to access the image prior to the one currently being accessed.
* enter 'next' to access the image after the one currently being accessed.
* enter a 'bookmark' name to access the snapshot image with the specified name.
The help does NOT explain HOW to enter a bookmark name. You might think it means you can use IMAGE='name' but that doesn't work. Previously we used image=search_image and serach_text='name' but that doesn't work with XtremIO. I'm sure there MUST be a way to do it but it seems broken on 4.1 SP2 with XtremIO.

Hi,
As discussed in the previous thread on this, the help pages should be updated.
Here's a way to find a specific application consistent bookmark, named DBshut in my case
enable_image_access group=cg1 copy=Remote image=search_image image_type=user_bookmark search_text=DBshut
This works regardless of the splitter/storage type being used.
Hope that helps,

That is the syntax I used and it fails with the error I stated.
Error: Cannot use advanced search options to search for images on XtremIO arrays.
Why am I seeing that error? Is there something that makes a search text into an advanced search? Could the RP I'm using be missing some patch?
I agree it should be independent of splitter, but I get that error message whenever I user image=search_image. What does it mean - what is and isn't supported. I was quoting the strings - does that matter? Is there any character set restriction on image names that would cause this to be an 'advanced search'.
I'll try again and post the exact command and output. maybe I'm missing something.

I noticed this in the release notes...
It’s important to note that when replicating between XtremIO arrays, the target Journal on the XtremIO array can be set to minimal size, as it’s only used to point to the actual snapshots. However, when replicating from XtremIO to non-XtremIO, standard Journal sizing should be followed.
Does an all XIO solution change the options and cause what I'm seeing?

C:\ > "C:\progra~2\putty\plink.exe" -batch -ssh -l "admin" -pw "xxx" "10.108.92.90" enable_image_access group='FS001' copy='Copy_FS001' image=search_image search_text=ISB_master.D001_201510021038 image_type=user_bookmark
Error: Cannot use advanced search options to search for images on XtremIO arrays.
Other than changing the password this is an EXACT paste of the command and the error. As far as I can see I am using EXACTLY the syntax you suggest . Clearly there IS something different about xtremio.

Hi,
This is still being investigated, this specific case was worked around by using REST to image access.
Please reach out to me offline to see to further investigate.

For the benefit of the forum, glad to let you know that we had found the issue in the image search on XtremIO-based copies. We had fixed this one in RecoverPoint 4.4.1 which GA'd on April 12th.
