Recover Point 4.0 new feature: SYNC over IP
Does RP 4.0 acutally support SYNC over IP?
The release notes for 4.0 state:
- Support for sync over IP
RecoverPoint now supports synchronous replication over IP to a remote RPA cluster.
The Admin guide for 4.0 states:
Synchronous replication mode is only supported for replication:
◆to a local copy.
◆to a remote copy over Fibre Channel.
Synchronous replication mode is not supported for replication over the WAN.
so can I use synchronous over IP to a remote RPA cluster or not?
Confused,

This is correct, latency requirements are <10ms

so I can run a consistency group synchornous over IP WAN if latency is less than 10 MS. Does the recover point cluster measure the latency before I can select synchronous if not how is the latency enforced?

its not enforced in anyway, nothing will stop you if your latency is higher...but your application may complain
