Recoverpoint - No IP connection to the VNX/CLARiiON storage system

I have a standard RP environment with 2 VNX 5300s, one at our local site, and one at our co-locate remote site. I'm running into a very unusual connectivity issue where I'm getting a No IP connection to the VNX/CLARiiON storage system error for both SPs on the remote array in the GUI console. Now, every device I've tried on both the local and remote network are able to ping the SP IPs except for the RP units themselves... I've tried rebooting both the RPs and the SPs but the problem remains. Support has tried to resolve the problem but were unable to. I thought it may be a cabling issue but I'm not sure. During a SP reboot I ensured that no other device is using the same IP as the SPs themselves.

When I try to confirm the splitter credentials for the remote array in the RP GUI it times out and I get the same error, no IP connectivity to SPs.

RP version is: Version: 3.5.SP1(o.143)

VNX version is: Block 05.31.000.5.726

                       File 7.0.54-5

What steps can I try to resolve this problem? Has anyone seen similar issues? I've never tested our RP environment at all but we are looking at implementing SRM soon.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there,

Ask support to take a look at Primus emc294544 or emc309897.

I'm still working with support on this. Is there anyway I can get access to or info on those Primus articles? I even re-cabled everything onto a single switch without VLANs to ensure this issue is not related to the underlying physical network. Any other troubleshooting steps you can think of that I can try would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Search for the following under Knowledgebase in EMC Online Support:

RecoverPoint: No IP connection between RPA and VNX/CLARiiON array

There are three entries.

Hi, assuming that the issue you're seeing is the one mentioned above, there's a fix.

In all cases, support should be involved so I recommend opening a SR to investigate.

If that's the same issue of re-installing RP/SE 4.0.x and getting this error, there's a signed script which support can run to remedy this one.

Hope that helps,

Idan
