Recoverpoint and FCoE
Anyone using Recoverpoint with FCoE? We are looking to implement a VNX direct-attached to UCS FI and doing Recoverpoint off the FI's. Is this possible or does the RP appliances have to connect to VNX FC I/O module?

Yes. As long as the VNX and RPAs are connected by FC you should be able to see the splitter and required RP volumes during setup. Just connect FCoE and FC ports from the VNX to the switch. Your other hosts can use FCoE and only RP will use FC. There's no problem with that.

Hi there,
FC only as physical RPA's use a QLogic FC HBA card. Only hosts can be FCoE.

VNX <> FCoE <> SWITCH <> FC <> RPA does not work. The VNX can connect with FCoE for hosts but the RPAs must connect via FC. Even if the FCoE switch has unified ports. Over FCoE it may be possible for the RPAs to see the Repository volume but the VNX splitter will appear down.

So what if you at least had FC connections from the storage to the switch, but you presented LUN's to the hosts through FCoE would that work?

Just one small addition to this response which is to say that from release 4.0 the RPAs can now be virtualised and connect to the VNX splitter using iSCSI. The same restriction applies to the hosts regarding FCoE.
