The Application is very slowly with EMC AutoStart 5.1.2(or patch) or 5.3

Hi,everyone

Our comsumer who has used the EMC AutoStart, but they have found a question when they use the EMC AutoStart, their application is very solwly. All of their environment is that:
1.EMC Autostart protect the application of MS SQL Server 2000/2005 or Exchange Server;
2.use EMC AutoStart Mirroring for Windows to mirror the data source
3.the Application without the emc autostart's mirror faster than with emc autostart mirror.

What's wrong with this problem? And has anybody meet this state?

thanks.

Hi,Yoshinobu

Thanks for your advices and opinions.

I think I would do all of the network, disk contorller, database access speed or application response test after this case.

But now, there is a application of weblogic middleware,so I think there is any configuration problem of the middleware or the database.

Hello,Lee

thank you.

Yes,we use the EMC Autostart build in mirror for windows, and the network bandwidth is 1GB,the mirror line is duplex.

Now there is tow company doing this case,we provide the Backup and High Availability solution. So the application's provider think that our solution mybe touch their application speed,so I want to know anybody meet this problem.

I think we must be use a tool to do a response time test for our comstumer's application from front-end to back-end.

Hi

The following explanation is in the installation manual.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Disk controllers.
If a server has an advanced controller with a cache and battery backup, set the cache write policy to 100% Write-Back.
The default is usually Write-Through.
This dramatically increases the mirroring performance of the servers.
--------------------------------------------------------------

Please adjust the disk controller.

I did this adjustment, and the speed has improved.
7MB/sec ---> 25MB/sec

David:

recently I have a similar experience...
some questions.
What type of link has the cluster between two nodes? F.O or Cu?
What is the distance between 2 nodes?
What vendor are NIC?
Do you have message on Event Viewer of Microsoft that contain problem with backbone services? If is yes, please Check the conecton between nodes and the NIC state.

Gabriel.

Hi,Gabriel

Thank you very much.

Have you meet this question?

the cluster link is crossover RJ45,and i test the average speed of network is higher than 50mb/s.
the distance between 2 nodes is less than 0.5 metres.
NIC is HP pc server built in.

Today,we expand the database managed RAM,and debug the weblog,so there is no problem currently.
No Events found!
