Does ESRS have a local console UI or web portal UI?

Does ESRS have a local console UI or web portal UI to view devices being monitored, event status, etc.?

If not, what mechanism will we use to keep track of what we are monitoring?

Thank you,
Sharon

On the Gateway server, launch the Configuration Tool.  The Managed Devices will show you the devices that are being managed.  If the server is running Windows 2008, you may need to use the Run as administrator option to launch the application.  View the Status tab to see "Connectivity status"; it should show Connected.  If you are using a Policy Manager, it should show Enabled and connected.

Thank you James.  Will the Configuration Tool also show events (opened or closed) for the monitored devices?  If not, is there a way that I can view events for all of my systems monitored by ESRS?  Would this be done using Service Center via EMC Online Support?

The policy manager will track / audit when call home alerts are sent through the ESRS gateway.  Though this will only tell you that a call home package was transmitted and when it occurs.  If applicable, I would recommend setting up user alerts from each device / storage array.  For example, VNX has an option in Unisphere to allow you to receive plain text alerts from the storage array by email.

In the EMC Support site you need to change your preferences to see all service requests created by dial homes (where "dial home" implies an alert sent to EMC).  Once this is set, you will be able to verify that call home events have created EMC service requests.

1)      Log in to support.emc.com

2)      Click “Service Center”

3)      Click “Preferences”

4)      Click “SR Management Settings”

5)      Click green Pencil on the left side of the page that is associated with “Set Dial Home Service Request Display”

6)      Click button “Include Dial Homes (open and closed)

7)      Save changes

In addition to Service Center via the EMC Online Support site, you can also track all of your Service Requests through the free EMC Support app. More information is available at http://www.emc.com/apps/support-mobile.htm
