ASL script question
Hi,
I would like to make multiple queries for data using ASL and was wondering how I do this ASL.
Example:
I would like to extract all routers and then all cards associtaed with each of the routers.
Thanks in advance
James

I have some traps, wich comes to smarts,
and i have to map variable from OID to instance name.
'.1.3.6.1.4.1.2929.2.2.2.3' --> 'rou49061da (ATM1/1/ima9.0-aal5 layer) - NDB49004A'
InstanceName: 'rou49061da (ATM1/1/ima9.0-aal5 layer) - NDB49004A'
but in this case there isn't any instance "rou49061da (ATM1/1/ima9.0-aal5 layer) - NDB49004A" on this device
this should be "IF-rou49061da/167 [ATM1/1/ima9.0-aal5 layer] [NDB49004A]" so i have to check this name in domain manager and put as InstanceName correct value:
I try test this with sm_adapter with incharge-sa and function "object()" and "self->" to retrieving some info from underlying domain managers but with no results.

Hi Tomasz,
my opinion is that in this case you should subscribe to Network Adapter (from IP to OI) using the associated DXA (available in OI global configuration), so all Ports and Interfaces are sync to OI. Then you will be able to process NetworkAdapter info directly in the trap receiver, without any 'magic' to connect to the underlying IP. BTW, I hope you have the index of the network Adapter in the trap, it will be much simpler and safer to use this index than the 'name' of the port. Names can vary between CLI and SNMP agent. And between what's in the trap and the syntax used by Smarts.

Hi.
Those traps incoming from others device and inform about some routers, in trap adapter i have asl script with take care about those traps, I want to match those traps to this device(router). I'll handle with this if I know how to retrieve information from underlying domain. I have this in asl training materials, but there is case obout dxa-hook script. And I try before with sm_adapter and standard asl script. And about index i think about this before but still first i have to retrieve info from domain manager
Thanks for advices
Tom

Hi Tom,
look at the file :
conf/ics/dxa-oi.conf (in your corresponding local directory for the SAM)
you should see what to do. (see the SAM Configuration Guide)
In this file, you can add any class you want to sync between SAM and underlying domains. NetworkAdapter in your case, and any other class needed. Using the Global console, you can do a reconfigure so the file is read and used by SAM. Then, the SAM will receive the associated instances from OI.

Hi Tom,
I havent looked at the details of what your problem is, but i can tell you how to do what you want .
Basically in your asl script you have to create a GA_Driver object and run it remote server. SendsActionsTo property of the Driver is the key.
create a driver in asl (one time job, probably in the global block):
trap_to_AM_Hook_driver = self->create("GA_Driver", "DRV-MY-DRIVER");
trap_to_AM_Hook_driver->ReadsRulesFrom = self->create("GA_RuleSet", "RS-DRV-MY-DRIVER");
trap_to_AM_Hook_driver->ReadsRulesFrom->fileName = "icoi-trapd/my.asl";
trap_to_AM_Hook_driver->waitForCompletion=TRUE;
then if you are doing this in trap adapter.
foreach domain (impactedObj->MemberOf) {
IP_domain= self->create("GA_RestartableServer", "ICS_Domain_Restartable-AM-Server");
IP_domain->remoteServerName = domain->DomainName;
IP_domain->trace = FALSE;
// define the Variables that the driver will need
trap_to_AM_Hook_driver->setVariable("XX", "YY");
trap_to_AM_Hook_driver->SendsActionsTo = IP_domain;
trap_to_AM_Hook_driver->start();
//get the return variables.
yy = trap_to_AM_Hook_driver->getVariable("XX");
}
the variable XX needs to be defined as global XX = "sthg"; in global section of my.asl
Just to give you an idea.Hope it helps.

Raghvendra

Hi Raghvendra
Thank you for you answer. It's help me very much.
But I have one roblem with
yy = trap_to_AM_Hook_driver->getVariable("XX");
returns error
getVariable: Specified operation not found in class,
in GA_Driver I can't find this operation
Operations for class GA_Driver:
clone_name
clearVariables
setVariable varName varValue
mode
createParser
start
startWithParameters
is any other operation which returns value?
in icoi-trapd/my.asl script I set XX and print after and it's OK.

Hi.
I don't know if I understand but you want move this serial number to one line? and make some csv file.
You can try with
//I need to get the serial number of the routers and switches but i only got this script, how do i go about it? Many thanks! - Mike C
START {
.. eol
} do {
devTableQuan = table();
devTableTime = table();

foreach devName (getInstances("Router")) {
devObj = object(devName);

Hi.
Do you run script
sm_adapter -s [server_name]
where server_name is IP Availability and Performance Manager because under SAM probably it won't works
if it still wont woks could you send me output from
dmctl -s IP_APM get Router::[some_router_pick_one]
there should be line looks like this
SystemPackagedIn = Chassis::CHASSIS-rou_test1
and next
dmctl -s IP_APM get Chassis::CHASSIS-rou_test1
output from this last.
Because I use IP v7.0.4 and I guess you have version 8 maybe they changed somethink? But in my env it wokrs fine.

Hi Tomasz,
I noticed that it is actually working when i viewed the CSV file C:\InCharge8\SAM\smarts\bin>sm_adapter -s PLDT-IS-OPSUPP-AM-PM-V8 SmartsInventor
yReport-Detailed.asl >c:\PLDT-IS-OPSUPP-AM-PM-V8-may11-2011.csv
but it only got 179 instances or Router out of 189, and shows an error in the command line below. Also, instead of getting the SNMP IP add, how can I add the found IP addresses of the routers in the script? Many thanks -regards, Mike C

Ok.
It's because in some device you don't have this SystemPackagedIn
so it create null object
you should put if statement
some think like this
maybe in this case you can get serial number from other place(not from Chassis)
START {
} do {
foreach devName (getInstances("Switch")) {
devObj = object(devName);
dev_test = devObj->SystemPackagedIn;
if (!dev_test->isNull()){
print(devObj->Name.",".dev_test);
print();
} else {
print(devObj->Name);
}
}
}
and I don't know which IP addres you want to get?
