alarms are saying device is down

On certain devices we are seeing alarms are saying it is down where as the devices and interface s are actually up

Any solution to this problem we have done an snmpwalk which is fine and also there is no log for flapping

Hi dele,

can it be because of access list ? The best way to troubleshoot this kind of behavior is to snoop traffic between the Smarts DM and the device. You will be able to see ICMP and SNMP packets.

Hi Dele,

Also what is the smoothing interval configured in the SAM Server?

As Fred pointed out, you have to snoop the packets between the device and the DM.

If could find some kind of pattern occuring on these notifications, then it will help a lot in troubleshooting.

With Warm Regards,

Gopal

We also see this alot.

And, it has nothing to do with ACL's as we get all other data from the device.

Support was contacted and they claim it is a problem with the Cisco MIB. (though other polling systems I use on this device do not have the same problem).

what is the device model?

There is a known issue for device model Cisco - 9513 that its clockcards will generate card down events. EMC engineering doesnt have any solution as of now.

No Events found!
