Is it possible to restore shortcutted email back to Exchange server with missing original shortcuts?

Hello,

We're currently restoring all shortcutted emails back to Exchange server (Exchange 2003) by using EmailXtract so we can start migrating user mailboxes to the new Exchange platform.

We ran into a situation where we couldn't restore some shortcuts because;

1. original shortcuts were removed some how or
2. original shortcuts had been moved outside of Exchange server (possibly to external pst file...)
We never ran PST ingestion but some user created their own pst files to maintain their emails.

Is it possible to restore shortcut and email contents without original shortcuts in Exchange server?

No it is not possible. You will need the original shortcutted email in the users mailbox.EmailXtract looks at the content of the mailbox, identifies shortcutted items and then requests the message from EmailXtender.

Greetings,

1 # To migrate to new Exchage Server you don't required to restore all the messsages to Exchange Server back. Because when user click on shortcut the request goes to SourceOne Archive Server not on Exchange Server.

Once you migrate the existing shortcut will work in new environment.

2 # There is not way to restore shortcut if user has deleted the shortcuts in his mailbox.

However user can search his email on webesearch and restore selected messages in mailbox.
