Create a DOS bootable CD
I have the R107305.exe file (for HD firmware update) and want to create a DOS bootable CD !
But SONIC Data creator under "Make it Bootable" asks for a .img, .ima, .bin file and not the .exe file.
What am I not understanding !!??
Thanks

I need to run that firmware patch on my 600m to help stop my Western Digital 80GB Scorpio from clicking(caused by some problem between Dell computers and WD drives).
It's supposed to be able to run straight off the hard drive, but I get the following error...
"Unable to run in Windows.
Please use a DOS boot disk.
Press any key to continue."
My 600m does NOT have a disk drive, so I must make a boot CD.
After numerous tries, I've been unable to accomplish this correctly.
Can someone explain to me how to accomplish this and what programs I should use in doing so?

Go to this website and select the dos cd boot image you want to burn. then use sonic to burn the image like you were prompted to do. burn the firmware update to another cd and just insert it after pc boots and run the update.
There is a way to add the update file to the dos boot cd but this way is easier for novice user like you.

Hi, What i would have done there, was to burn the update using the ISO, and then booted off the cd. With the latest update from Seagate you have to do that.

I don't recall him saying an iso file was available for the patch. Is there?

Hi SlamX, The link he gave us does not work. When downloaded the patch for my drive, i had to burn to ISO.

Hah! good point. shame on this lousy forum for not taking suggestions for change. like dating the original post so this does not happen.
also have a feature like old forum to go back to the post page after you replay....still not listening.

Fellows, I tried really hard to stay quiet, but Robin's comments on the link just pushed me over the edge. Have either of you noticed that this post is more than two years old? I would have been surprised if any of the links worked.

Hi JackShack, Nice one about the link. LOL Should have noticed it myself, no wonder the link would not work.
