Can't access the link? Well, this is the particular text I'm referring to on that page:
DVD+RW/+R with CD-RW Drive
The perfect All-in-One combination! Read CD or DVD media, write DVD+RW, DVD+R media or CD media! This drive offers leading edge optical capability, and includes both Sonic MyDVD for digital content authoring and Roxio Direct CD for CD and DVD data burning.
But I think you helped me on this already. Thanks.
I could not access your link, however all DVD burners will write to CD-R & CD-RW media. The DVD media, (excluding DVD-RAM)comes in two formats "+R /RW" and "-R /RW". Currently Dell is factory installing only single format drives that support "+" media.
Best Regards

I couldn't find anything closer than this post to answer my question...mostly because I'm just too tired to look anymore...sorry about that. But, if I put a CD in the DVD drive (read only), can I burn a copy of data files from the DVD to the CD/RW? And, If I have a data file on a CD, how can I copy them to my hard drive? Sonic doesn't seem to want to recognize the data file, and there doesn't seem to be a way of copying from the disk to the hard drive in that program. Am I doing something wrong, or is Sonic not set up for this operation? I have several disks of information using NTI to burn the data files from my old PC that I want to copy to the new PC. Thanks in advance for any help. Paul

"At the bottom of the link it spells out exactly the media the drive will write to."
That wasn't part of my problem.
