Will the new drive come with a jumper? All of the other drives I have replaced were plug and play.
As well, I do have a PC with internet and Windows. So are you saying that I need to use another PC, load the exe file and then let it run? Will that create a boot disk to use on the PC that needs a replacement drive?
Just want to be clear.
Thx

Thank you.
Couple of questions.
1- How do you set the drive to cabel select?
2- At what point and how do I upgrade the bios? I see a .exe link but not sure what I need to do with it.
Thank you

THE EXE is a bios diskette floppy image. Im assuming you still have a machine with windows and access to the internet. You boot from that floppy to update the bios.
Cable select is a jumper on the drive. How this is done depends on which Brand and model of drive.

(Cable Select)
The jumper over the J48 position is configuring the drive for Cable Select.

The diskette image is for updating the bios on a GX200. The file to create the diskette image runs from within windows. Once the disk is created you boot from the diskette on the GX200 and tell it to update the bios from DOS.

Installing a new drive with OS will require booting from the CDROM with WIN98SE,ME,2000,XP.
bios needs to be updated BEFORE installing os.
