Hello,

Does anyone know what means Tier1, 2 and 3 managed devices when configuring IP AM?

Hi Vasil,

From EMC KB article  :  emc175548

The following defines the devices in the Tier 1/2/3/4 licenses used in the Managed Smarts IP Suite Availability Manager. All of the tiers assume devices that are actively managed by the Licensee using EMC Smarts IP Suite Availability Manager software within the Licensee’s IP topology.

Managed Tier One Device
A Managed Tier One Device is a network layer device such as a router, switch, hub, virtual router and/or security device.

Managed Tier Two Device
A Managed Tier Two Device is an end-point device such as host, virtual server, desktop, workstation, printer, IP telephone, wireless access point and/or CSU/DSU.

Managed Tier Three Device
A Managed Tier Three Device is a network layer device that has less than 6 ports & interfaces such as a router, switch, hub, virtual router, and/or security device.

Managed Tier Four NAS Device
A Managed Tier Four NAS Device is a Network Access Storage device.

Kind Regards,

Thanks a lot, Paul. Searched a lot in EMC web site and Powerlink, but couldn't find it. Thanks again.
